BLAZE MEETING MINUTES

The Mountain Youth Ministries

September 14, 2008

Meeting led by Jr High President Katlyn Riggins

·         Attendees: Cathy Rogers, John, Rachel & Jackson Stanley, John Forbus, Gary Darden, Clarence and Caitlyn Elliott,  Jessica & Cheryl Judd,  and Melissa Harris

Adult Volunteers or volunteer teams still needed.

-Especially needed is the Fundraising Coordinator.  At this time no date has been set for the Variety Show.

-Vanessa Vaughter-Weilage has offered her experience to head up a Stock Campaign.

-Discussed previous Stock campaign prior to current Sirdar leadership. The issue previously was that most all the money collected was spent on the Stock Holder’s dinner held long after the Mission Trip.  Plans for a Stock Holder’s dinner if done in this school year would include donation of the food and a planned dinner/dessert night with DVD &

testimonies approximately 2 weeks following the mission trip.

T-Shirts Update

Following the Aug Blaze Meeting youth were overheard discussing the shirts, feeling dissatisfied with the choice to use a modified version of the previous design.  Youth were given the opportunity to submit designs.  One design was submitted by the Stanley’s.  A quote on pricing was received for the same sapphire shirt as voted previously with the new design.  The vendor waved screenprint set up fee and offered comparable rate of $8.10 per shirt for the new design compared to the $7.50 for the current modified design. Vote was taken at Blaze (and at Base Camp following) with unanimous vote for the Stanley design.  Youth have begun ordering sizes of shirts. Payment of $10 per shirt as suggested by the Sherpa’s was agreed upon.

New Point Groups

Last week was first meeting with break out of groups.  Due to several delays and room assignment changes with Sarang church, there were several delays and some confusion and schedule was off.

-No College Age Singles were in attendance last week and none are expected this week. 2 of the Collage Age Singles previously interested in the group have a change in their plans not bringing them to stay in Carrollton on weekends.  John is working with those who are a fit for this group to identify a time and how often a bible study group might be held.

-Steep Incline had 5 youth attend last week with interest in the group. (this Sunday night only 2 attended.  Feedback from some who did attend and came to Big Wall this week was that it seemed “too intense”.

-Big Wall got off to a rough start for several reasons.  Those addressed as possible with an effort for change in tonight’s program.

Meeting dismissed at 5pm in prayer led by John Stanley.
