Sherpas donate much of their time,
energy, and knowledge to the
spiritual growth of the youth that
they teach. Each are mentors to the
youth in our group, and are a huge
part of everything we do at
Aldersgate!
(If you are a Sherpa,
and wish to have a bit of
information about yourself with your
picture, feel free to send it to us
via email.)

John Forbus
has dedicated his Sunday Nights to
the youth since joining Aldersgate
in 2000, and currently serves as
chair of Blaze, and is a Jr. High
Sherpa. Raised in a tight-knit
United Methodist Youth group in
Sardis, Arkansas, John like giving
Aldergate's youth the opportunity to
have as much fun as he did growing
up. Highlights of John's time with
the youth include trips to Six Flags
and Galveston, on-demand math and
science tutoring, plus games such as
"What's John Eatin'?" and "Halftime
3-Liter Extravaganza" and
"Full-Contact Bible Trivia."
John and his wife Amy have been
blissfully married since 1996. They
are proud-puppy parents of a German
Shepherd mutt, Cub, who occasionally
serves as mascot for Trunk or Treat
in her Ace the Bat-Hound costume,
and their most recent addition, a
blue heeler named Angus.

John Stanley
has
been a senior high Sherpa since
2004, but has since moved down to
teach Junior High Sunday school. He is happily married;
coincidentally, his wife's name is
Mrs. Stanley. He's "really old",
knows a lot of really bad jokes, and
loves golf.
